Letter to your manager

We have drafted a letter that can be given to your club/facility manager in support of your attendance at the USPTA World Conference. It may make it easier for you to ask if the club can pay for or at least subsidize your expenses to attend this valuable educational event.

Before talking to your manager/director about attending the conference, study the benefits worksheet to learn how attending the conference can result in benefits for your club/facility.

Be sure to go through the official schedule and determine which courses you would like to attend.

Tips for speaking to your manager/director

  1. Be knowledgeable about the conference and how specific courses can directly relate to your job.
  2. Ask your manager for his/her input on which seminars would be the most beneficial to your facility.
  3. Put together a schedule of the courses and events you plan to attend
  4. Anticipate questions your manager may ask about the conference.
  5. Offer to give feedback after the conference about what you learned to your supervisor and staff. Afterward, hold a brief training session to share information, drills, tips, etc., that you learned.
  6. Emphasize measurable results in your program and plan how you will implement changes. For example, explain how your facility can increase program participation.

We hope to see you at Monterey in September, but if you can’t attend this year, perhaps your manager will include the educational expense into next year’s club budget!
